COVID-19 Cases and Deaths by Age Over Time

We have provided below the relevant links for the data on COVID-19 cases and deaths by age over time for different countries. As suggested, we have prioritized the European countries (based on data availability) in our research, and have included data from the regulatory databases and publications to the extent available. Below is a summary of our findings.

1) Belgium

  • The data for the number of daily COVID cases by age over time can be downloaded from here. The relevant file is titled ‘Confirmed cases by date, age, sex, and province’.
  • The data for the number of daily COVID deaths by age over time can be downloaded from here.

2) Austria

  • While the historical data for the number of COVID cases by age was not available on the official COVID-19 dashboard of the Austrian government, the current cumulative confirmed cases by age group can be downloaded from here.
  • The data for the number of daily COVID deaths by age over time can be downloaded from here.

3) France

  • The data for the number of daily COVID cases by age over time can be viewed from the interactive dashboard provided here. One needs to select the ‘Monitoring of Tests’ section, toggle the date from the top, and then hover over the chart with data by age group to view the statistics. The data is also released in the form of weekly press releases here.

4) Norway

  • The data for the number of weekly COVID cases by age over time can be downloaded from here. One needs to navigate to the table titled ‘By sex and age’ and then select the respective weeks from the drop-down.

5) Spain

7) Portugal

Kindly note that the Portuguese government has stopped providing the age distribution data for confirmed COVID cases since August 16, 2020. The data prior to this date can be accessed from the respective reports from the table tiled ‘Caracterização Demográfica Dos Casos Confirmados.’

8) Sweden

  • The weekly reports archived here provide the incidence rate data by age group. However, the reports are not available in English and the underlying data table has also not been provided in these reports. The current snapshot of the data by age group can be accessed here.

9) The UK

  • While the historical data for the number of COVID cases by age could not be located on the official resources, the current cumulative confirmed cases by age group can be downloaded from here.
